On the sexual abuse, exploitation & deception of society and it's children
NEVER AGAIN :: Never again
"NEVER AGAIN"
In recent years, Japan has initiated several measures to investigate and address sexual and other abuses committed against children by clergy and religious organizations.
Catholic Church Investigations:
-
2019 Study by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Japan (CBCJ): The CBCJ conducted a comprehensive study on sexual abuse of minors by clergy and religious members within the Catholic Church in Japan. This investigation, covering cases from the 1950s to the 2010s, identified 16 instances of sexual abuse. The CBCJ acknowledged the challenges in understanding the full scope of the issue and emphasized the need for creating an environment where victims feel safe to come forward.
-
Legal Actions: In 2019, a woman filed a lawsuit against the Catholic Church in Japan, alleging that a priest had raped her four decades earlier. This case highlights the gradual emergence of the church's sexual abuse crisis in the country.
Governmental and Legal Measures:
-
Health Ministry Guidelines (2023): In response to concerns about religiously motivated child abuse, Japan's Health Ministry introduced guidelines classifying forced participation in religious activities as a form of child abuse. These guidelines aim to protect children from coercive religious practices that may hinder their personal development or infringe upon their rights.
-
Investigation into Jehovah's Witnesses: A 2023 survey revealed that many children of Jehovah's Witnesses in Japan experienced abuse, including being forced to refuse medical treatments like blood transfusions and subjected to corporal punishment. Following these findings, the government initiated an investigation into the possibility of systemic child abuse within the religious community.
Public Awareness and Advocacy:
- Impact of Shinzo Abe's Assassination (2022): The assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe by the son of a Unification Church member brought significant attention to the issue of child abuse within religious contexts. This event prompted a national discourse on the influence of religious organizations and the potential for abuse, leading to increased scrutiny and calls for protective measures for children raised in strict religious environments.
These efforts reflect Japan's growing commitment to confronting and addressing abuses perpetrated by clergy and religious organizations, aiming to protect vulnerable individuals and prevent future incidents.
Asking for September 1 is both positive and progressive and much more powerful than any other concept we are aware of which is attempting to address this issue.
If you feel so outraged and if you are motivated beyond simply expressing your anger and outrage at these crimes then you would simply join in with the September1 initiative and publicly show your support.
September 1 is only one facet of a global alliance opposing the failure of Governments across the world to uphold human rights and their failure to appropriately regulate religions into compliance. Its not rocket science when you look at it - its simply common sense.

The September 1 initiative aim is to bring to the world a definitive solution to the global clergy abuse crisis
